Then, I drilled the holes out and used these staples I had lying around to hold the switch to the bracket. Once I found the perfect position, I used a very small drill bit to mark the bracket through the mounting holes of the switch. This all should be fairly evident in the pictures above. To achieve this, I did have to bend the metal bit that actually pushes the button so that it hugged the top of the shift rod. So that as soon as the shift rod moves up at all, the switch is closed. So, I experimented until I found a position in which the button has very slight pressure on it at all times. The switch should close *just* before you engage into the next gear. From this point, I mounted the bracket and then positioned the switch by hand before I secured it to the bracket.Īs I said, you want the switch to activate as you're shifting. You want the bracket to be formed in a Z shape of sorts, so that the switch lines up in the middle of your shift rod as best as it can. You're going to use the upper right-most bolt on your counter shaft sprocket cover case as the mounting point for your bracket. You can find them at Radio Shack for about $3.50. turn the ignition key ON and disable engine kill switch (I mean engine enabled position on the switch beside the throttle) test each pin on the ignition coil socket with a negative probe and make sure you got 12v - 13v range (not 0v) or the LED lights up which means you had common cathode wiring on the coils. The fuel cut has to correlate with your shift, and this tutorial will show you have to make that happen. It doesn't help to cut fuel for 1/10th of a second before or after you try to shift. The key to this working is that the ECU must see this signal at the correct time. The quick shift switch is what allows the 5V to pass through to the other wire. This takes load off of your transmission and allows you to shift. There are multiple options for motorcycles like Harley-Davidson’s, Indians, sports bikes and more. It simply plugs into the fuel injector and is then active to use on your next shift. When the 5V signal from Wire 1 is connected to Wire 2 who is looking for the signal, the ECU knows it's time to shift! So, a subroutine is ran in the processor that cuts fuel injection for less than 1/10th of a second. Installing our Quick Shifter kit is fast and easy, with no wiring required. Then, they also have another wire actively waiting to receive this 5V signal at all times. Essentially, they program the ECU to send a 5V signal out on a particular wire at all times when the bike is running.

i try me best to make mods of parts that are easily accessible to anyone from a hardware store. all he did was bend the bracketsĪs some of my subscribers on youtube know. proof, being that he did not or could not destroy this one. (J is the first initial of the buddy who destroyed my first shifter). So i went back to the drawing board, and came up with what i call J-proof shifter. i knew i could not release a how to on that shifter. Needless to say, he demolished that shifter in a 5 minute session with the shifter. after my first prototype it turns out it was fine build for me, but i didnt stand the strength and brutality of a good friend of mine, ago What I used to do is use the red buttons that are by the shifter.

Y-Axis for gated shifter, downshift for sequential 5. So you really need two toggles: your splitter (to go from 1L to 1H) and your high-low ratio toggle (1-3 or 4 and 5-6 or 8). X-Axis for gated shifter, Upshift for sequential 4. as i promised a DIY video on building your own sequential shifter. The other two 'speeds' would be LL and LH, found on the lower left (2nd position) of the gear shift.
